Geordie's in Texas

This Thursday, May 1, Aitken Leadership will be represented in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce has a very cool young leaders' program called Vision Forth Worth. They've invited me to conduct a session on the topic of 'Balance' (the work vs. life kind) for young professionals.

While I am far from having achieved enduring balance in my own life, I will be teaching some of the ideas that have made the most significant personal impact on me, and which I think will prove useful to attendees in this setting. Vision Fort Worth is all about creating a connected community of young professionals, and I think my session will be a very good opportunity for these folks to cement their connections to each other. That, and gain tools to create better balance in their lives.

One of the interesting things about 'balance' and young people is that we think we're all alone in struggling with it. We're not.

ALG conducted a survey of all of Vision Forth Worth's members, and the result was clear: young professionals, leaders, workers - call them what you want - are very engaged with the question of 'balance'. Stories of successful engagement comingle with accounts of total stress, but there is no doubt that the challenge of 'balance' is crucial to the generation now in the mid-twenties.

If you're in the Forth Worth area you can still register. Go to the link above. We're doing it at the Forth Worth Zoo!
