Sustaining the GTAA

Early in 2007, I was asked to lead the Greater Toronto Airports Authority as President and CEO. With my renewed executive team we needed to lead a strategic and cultural transformation of the entire organization and its 1300 employees for the benefit of our customers and the community we serve.

In the ensuing 24 months, with the help of Aitken Leadership Group, and their partner Kyle V. Davy Consulting, we successfully crafted a dynamic strategic roadmap and business plan. To deliver on this plan, we have implemented – and continue to implement – a powerful new leadership development and coaching program for 170 leaders and managers. Amid the extreme turbulence of a dramatically changing business environment, we are successfully shifting the culture from one of “top down control and risk aversion” to “service, innovation, accountability and results.” Our customers are delighted with the change in our service orientation and our people are feeling the strength of a revitalized business environment, one of creativity, empowerment and success.
